Principal’s Welcome

Our thriving school is nestled in the heart of Canberra and has become renowned as a place where students understand that they are part of a bigger picture in the world around them.

From our Early Learning and Pre-Kindy programs, through to our Primary School curriculum, we offer a personalised approach to each child’s unique learning needs.

Our academic subjects are enriched through our music, singing, dancing and sporting activities, as well as our excursions, gardening programs, animal visits and Mandarin lessons. Our focus extends beyond external learning, toward fostering social responsibility and character development.

We instil important attributes such as respect and compassion for others, and teach wise decision-making, to help shape young minds for a brighter future.

I am proud of our school and our culture, and would be thrilled to meet you and introduce you to our caring, supportive family.

Our Story

Our story began 50 years ago inspired by Adventist Education’s vision to build a school in Canberra that would deliver learning for tomorrow, and shape character for eternity. As part of the esteemed Adventist Education system, which spans over a century, Canberra Christian School stands firmly on our foundation of proven governance and steadfast leadership.

Our staff continue to uphold the mission of our founders by supporting each student throughout their learning journey. We believe in working closely with families to provide an enriching educational experience that extends beyond the classroom.

Our commitment to deliver a quality Christian education remains unwavering today and we look ahead with hope and expectation for even greater things to come in the future.

Our Culture and Christian Values

At CCS, we enjoy a connected and inclusive learning environment where education is about more than academics but holistic development.

We believe that every child has been created with their own blend of abilities and part of our role as educators is to help our students discover, develop and find purpose for their talents. Our Christian values are woven throughout school life and these help our students become leaders of strong moral character.

Through engaging scripture lessons, lively chapels and exciting fundraising activities, we encourage spiritual growth, kindness and service to others. Our Christian community is built on inclusion and a values alignment for our families who come from different faith backgrounds.

Our Vibrant School Community

We believe that a school should be a place of friendship for students and their families. Since CCS opened our doors, we have enjoyed a close-knit community where parent connection and involvement thrive through various school activities.

These include our annual fete, our Friday night Garage64 program, regular family BBQs, ‘Date Nights’ for parents with free babysitting, and weekly ‘coffee and bagel’ catch-ups. As a valued member of our community, you will experience a place where lasting friendships are formed because we truly believe we are stronger together.

Coffee and bagels

We know the feeling of those rushed school mornings, which is why we provide weekly free coffee and bagel catch-ups at school to bring a bit of calm and comfort to your morning routine

A much-loved quarterly event on our school calendar, where we meet as a school community to eat, have fun, and enjoy time together.

A fun night for both parents and children alike! The parents can enjoy a beautiful evening to themselves, while CCS provides free babysitting and the kids have a blast enjoying movies, popcorn and a special night at school.
